XLSX to SQL with CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements
Upload the XLSX file, pick the sheet, set the table name and SQL dialect, then convert. You get a .sql script with a CREATE TABLE statement and INSERT rows ready to run.

Loading a spreadsheet into a database usually means fighting an import wizard that guesses column types badly. XlsConverter reads the sheet, infers types from the actual values and writes a plain SQL script you can review, version and run with any client.
The default dialect is MySQL, with dedicated pages for Excel to MySQL and Excel to PostgreSQL if you want dialect specific details. For a single file database, see Excel to SQLite.
How to convert XLSX to SQL in three steps
- 1Upload the XLSX workbook you want to load into a database.
- 2Choose the sheet, table name, dialect and whether to include CREATE TABLE.
- 3Convert and download the .sql script, then run it in your database client.
Type inference is where most spreadsheet imports go wrong
Excel stores dates as serial numbers and leaves the formatting to the cell style, so a naive export writes 46301 instead of 2026-10-07. XlsConverter reads the number format of each cell and writes real DATE or DATETIME values, which is the single biggest difference from copying cells into a query by hand.
Leading zeros are the opposite problem. Postal codes, SKUs and phone numbers look numeric but must stay text, otherwise 00742 becomes 742. The converter types a column as VARCHAR when any value has a leading zero or mixes digits and letters, and you can override any inferred type before export.
Very wide text columns and mixed content also matter. A column that holds both numbers and the word "n/a" cannot be INTEGER. If your data starts life as plain text, CSV to SQL uses the same inference, and older binary workbooks are covered by XLS to SQL.
XLSX to SQL questions
How do I import an XLSX file into a SQL database?
Convert the sheet to a .sql script with CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, then run it in your database client. This avoids import wizards and keeps the load repeatable.
Which SQL dialect does the XLSX to SQL converter use?
MySQL by default, with PostgreSQL and SQLite available as options. Quoting, boolean values and types change with the dialect.
Are Excel dates converted to SQL dates?
Yes. Cells formatted as dates are written as DATE or DATETIME literals instead of Excel serial numbers.
Can I append rows to a table that already exists?
Turn off CREATE TABLE and the script contains INSERT statements only, matching the column names you set.
Can I test XLSX to SQL before paying?
Yes, the one-time demo converts up to 100 rows so you can check types and syntax. Full files need a paid plan from 24 USD per month billed yearly.
