TSV files come out of databases, analytics exports and bioinformatics tools. Opening them in Excel often lands everything in column A or turns IDs into scientific notation. XlsConverter parses the tabs properly and writes a real XLSX with sensible types.

Long numeric IDs and how Excel mangles them

Excel keeps only 15 significant digits for numbers. An 18 digit order ID or credit card style reference loaded as a number silently becomes 123456789012345000. The converter detects values longer than 15 digits and stores them as text so every digit survives.

Quoting is less common in TSV than in CSV, but some exporters still wrap fields in double quotes, and embedded tabs or line breaks inside a field break naive parsers. XlsConverter honors quoted fields when they appear and otherwise splits on every tab, which matches how most databases write TSV.

Large files are not a problem for the target format, since XLSX holds 1,048,576 rows per sheet. Beyond that, the converter continues on a new sheet. If your TSV is really a JSON export flattened by a tool, compare with JSON to Excel, and for archiving consider CSV to XLS only when a legacy system demands it.
