Matrixify Alternative for Supplier Excel and CSV Prep

Matrixify is the stronger choice when you need to push products, customers, orders and metafields straight into Shopify from a file. XlsConverter is a Matrixify alternative only for the step before the import, turning supplier Excel workbooks into clean UTF-8 CSV with fixed sheet, delimiter and date settings, header templates, batches and inbox pipelines. Matrixify lists Basic at 20 USD, Big at 50 USD and Enterprise at 200 USD per 30 days. XlsConverter Pro costs 49 USD per month and Business 149 USD.

A Matrixify alternative only makes sense if you know which part of the job you want to replace. Matrixify reads a file and writes it into your Shopify store. XlsConverter does not touch the store at all. It turns the supplier workbook into a clean CSV, on a schedule if you want, so that Shopify's own importer, or Matrixify, receives a file that loads the first time. Pro is 49 USD per month, or 24 USD per month billed yearly.

Most store owners who search for an alternative are in one of two situations. Either the monthly fee feels high for the few imports they run, or the supplier file needs so much reshaping that the import tool is not the bottleneck. The second case is where a spreadsheet converter earns its place.

Where Matrixify wins

Matrixify is built for Shopify and writes directly to it. According to its pricing page, checked on October 30, 2026, one file can carry products with up to 100 variants each, collections, customers, companies, discounts, draft orders, orders, pages, blog posts, redirects, files, metaobjects, menus and translations. Limits apply per job, with no monthly or daily item cap. If you migrate a store, bulk update prices and metafields, or export orders for accounting, Matrixify does things a file converter cannot.

XlsConverter has no connection to Shopify. It will not create products, set metafields, host images or generate handles. If that is the job, a converter is not a replacement.

Where a spreadsheet converter is enough

Many weekly Shopify imports are simple in structure and messy in format. A supplier sends an XLSX with merged header rows, a notes tab, prices with currency symbols and SKUs that lost their leading zeros. Before any import tool can help, someone has to fix the file and save it as UTF-8 CSV. XlsConverter lets you pick the sheet, delimiter, encoding and date format, trim whitespace, drop empty columns and remove duplicate rows. The Excel to Shopify CSV converter lists the rules Shopify applies to its product template, such as the 15 MB file limit and handle based variant rows.

On Business, a saved schema template renames the supplier's headers to the Shopify template names, and a pipeline picks up each new workbook from an email inbox, S3, Google Drive, Dropbox or a URL. The converted CSV lands in SFTP, S3, a webhook or email. Nobody opens Excel. The automatic Excel to CSV workflow explains the setup.

Matrixify pricing compared with XlsConverter

Matrixify bills in 30 day periods. Basic costs 20 USD and allows 5,000 products, 2,000 customers and 1,000 orders per job. Big costs 50 USD and allows 50,000 products, 20,000 customers and 10,000 orders per job. Enterprise costs 200 USD with unlimited items. The Demo plan is free and limited to 10 items per job. Verify these figures on the vendor page before you budget.

XlsConverter Pro costs 49 USD per month with 2,000 conversions, 100 MB files and batches of 50. Business costs 149 USD with 10,000 conversions, 500 MB files, batches of 500, 20 pipelines, 5 seats and 1,000 AI runs. Matrixify Basic is cheaper than Pro. A converter pays for itself only if the hours your team spends cleaning supplier files cost more than the difference. See the plans and count the files you really handle per month.

Using both

The tools are not exclusive. A supplier workbook can pass through XlsConverter to get stable headers, UTF-8 and consistent dates, and the resulting CSV can then be imported with Shopify's importer or with Matrixify. If the products are live and need ads next, you can turn each product link into ad copy and creative without writing it by hand.

Who should not switch

Stay with Matrixify if you need to write to Shopify in bulk, manage metafields or move orders and customers. Stay if your imports are rare and the Shopify template already accepts your supplier file. XlsConverter is not a store editor, and Pro costs more per month than Matrixify Basic.

How to test it with one supplier file

  1. Take last month's worst file. Pick the workbook that needed the most hand editing.
  2. Convert it with explicit settings. The demo converts the first 100 rows, enough to check headers, encoding and prices.
  3. Import a test batch. Load a handful of rows into a development store or a draft collection and compare against the source.
  4. Time the whole job. If preparing the file takes longer than importing it, a converter is the right place to save time.

Questions about this guide

Is there a good Matrixify alternative for supplier spreadsheets?

It depends on the step. For preparing supplier Excel files into clean UTF-8 CSV with fixed settings and batches, XlsConverter works. For writing data straight into Shopify, including metafields and orders, Matrixify remains the stronger tool, and the two can be used together.

How much does Matrixify cost?

Matrixify lists Basic at 20 USD, Big at 50 USD and Enterprise at 200 USD per 30 days, with a free Demo limited to 10 items per job. Per job caps rise from 5,000 products on Basic to 50,000 on Big and unlimited on Enterprise. Check the vendor page for current prices.

Can XlsConverter import products into Shopify?

No. XlsConverter prepares the CSV and does not log in to Shopify, create products, set metafields or host images. You import the converted file with Shopify or with an import app. Business pipelines deliver the file to SFTP, S3, a webhook or email.

Can I rename supplier columns to the Shopify template automatically?

Yes, on Business. A saved schema template renames incoming headers to the Shopify template names, and optional AI normalization handles variations in supplier wording. Review the first output before you load it, because values such as handles and variant structure still come from your file.
